One tip to instantly elevate your perspective drawings

Hi Reader, -- David here from SketchLikeAnArchitect.com

You know that I'm not an advocate for any "magic bullets" when it comes to learning any skill. I simply don't believe in shortcuts.

However, there's one thing in perspective drawing that can make instant radical difference if done right.

I'm talking about shading - bringing plasticity, contrast, and setting the atmosphere for your objects and scenes.

Choosing the light direction and rendering techniques to support the intention of a drawing can really show your sketch/drawing/illustration in the best possible light (pun intended).

Only if there was just one way how to do it! There is a number of shading techniques when it comes to...

Constructing the shadows

  • parallel shading (simplified)
  • non-parallel shading
    • from the Sun (typically exterior)
    • from artificial light (typically interior)

Rendering the shades & shadows

  • technical shading (one or more layers of line hatching)
  • value shading (gradients of tonal values)

Based on the past surveys, you've expressed interest in improving in both drawing and shading in perspective.

So I've been working on a number of new step-by-step tutorials on drawing both interior and exterior perspective views

and different shading techniques based on speed and complexity (we don't always have time to "bother" with precise and polished value shading).

And all of this new material will be included in the Sketch Like an Architect PDF Handbook.

And the good news?

It's a completely FREE update for you whether you purchased the Full Version, got it in the PDF Bundle or as a part of my beginner's course.

Tomorrow, I'll send you just a quick email to let you know once the update is available for you to download - watch out for it in your inbox ;)

Looking forward to hearing what you think about it!
